Engine oil is what lubricates your Truck or RV’s engine, allowing it to run smoothly and last longer. Vehicle owners must maintain the engine by changing the oil st s regular interval. People as us all of the time “what is the right interval” for my Truck or RV. There are some key factors to consider before giving an answer………..Some Truck Engines are using Oil Systems that are designed to stretch the Interval out as far as 30,000 miles between Services, but those systems are fairly rare. Most Trucking Fleets and Owner Operators are using an interval of 7,500 – 10,000 miles between Services. RV Owners may say that they don’t put that many miles on their coach in three years. But we don’t recommend waiting that long. Most RV Owners use the interval of 5,000 miles or once a year. This allows the RV to be inspected at least once a year, because Preventative Maintenance is the key To the long life of a Diesel Engine.
Changing the Oil
An important part of a good Preventative Maintenance program is changing the oil regularly. We recommend a good 15W40 Oil, and a quality filter.
An obvious benefit of changing one’s own oil is saving money, but oil change services frequently advertise bargains. We are more than happy to answer your questions if you decide to change your own oil. But we caution those DIYer’s, to remember that it is not just the oil that needs Preventative Maintenance! Always do a thorough inspection of you whole vehicle.
